What a day!
We were honored to work with Lauren and Jimmy a short time back on their wedding day photography and I think we experienced an absolutely wild day.
Family, friends, romance, beautiful setting, beautiful ceremony and — of course — gale force winds with a bit of a wind chill. Okay, the last two were not that significant but did make the ceremony even more memorable.
We visited Metamora Fields Golf Club for their special day — with a late afternoon wedding ceremony near the club house and followed by a spectacular reception inside.
We actually started the night before, at the rehearsal where the couple and everyone else planned out the ceremony with their minister and had lots of laughter and fun to capture. Krystal, as in her usual role, took on a bit of a wedding coordinator stance to make sure events would look good.
And the next morning we started off again — this time at the Sleep Inn and Suites in nearby Washington, Illinois. where Lauren and her gals spent the morning primping and prepping for the day’s affairs. Lauren’s flowers, created by Georgette Flowers, arrived and were gorgeous. Hair was done by and make-up done by.
Then, off to Metamora Fields!
We met up with Jimmy where he was eagerly (major understatement!) for his bride to arrive. We set up their first look near the front of the building — and let the love flow! Almost every wedding we shoot these days has the couple meeting each other before the wedding ceremony — and this was the perfect reason why. Tears on both sides, talking and talking about the big day finally being here. And — finally, the suspense was ended. Jimmy saw her in her beautiful wedding gown. And she saw him all decked out in his finest attire. So cool!
We left them alone for a bit to just talk. Lots of photos, lots of special memories.
The ceremony went beautifully and we were able to get some amazing shots of the couple and their guests. And off to the cocktail hour where guests were served a special electric blue concoction called “The Washout” just for the couple.
The couple were formally announced and welcomed into the main area via a tunnel from their wedding party . . . and the party began!
Top Hat Productions DJ Mark McIntire put the couple and their guests through lots of dancing and a few special events — garter toss, flower toss, cake cutting and some teary-eyed toasts for the young pair. And, have to mention the cakes — two of them, their wedding day cake (beautiful) and one for the groom in the shape of a bowling ball created by Cake Crumbs Limited’s Tammy Woodmancy.
